You'll have enough time to hit all of the buttons, which are:, then, then. You can't kill this beast, but hit him enough for the button to appear and start a Quick Time Event to take control of him. You'll meet a big beast (known as an Asterian Beast) after you've killed some minions. Talk to him and you'll receive the Holy Spell - Righteous Path. Continue with the level, and eventually you'll come across Virgil for the first time. You can't punish or absolve them, so just kill them quickly using Holy Cross attacks by pressing. So it's worth breaking all the fountains you come across. You need to break 20 Health and Mana fountains to get their respective achievements. There are varying fountains throughout the game: purple ones for Mana, orange ones for Judas Coins, and white ones for souls. When you get to leave the graveyard and head into a church, there's a Health Fountain to break. You'll be able to buy one of two abilities: Impaler UN5 or Vile Wind UN7 (you'll need Vile Flurry for this one, but it doesn't cost any souls). You'll eventually collect 1000 souls and be prompted to purchase an ability with the souls. It will take you two playthroughs to complete both paths anyway, so play as you wish. I won't be talking about what abilities to buy from here on out, the game isn't going to punish you for leveling up a path however you want to. Ideally you'd want to do the Holy path first, but it's entirely up to you to decide. When appears above his head, follow the QTE button prompts and destroy Death. Now that you have the scythe, Death will no longer attack and just run and try to hide from you. When Death is at about 25% health, Dante will take the scythe from Death. Once Death is around 50% health, he’ll unleash his third attack it's another close attack where Death will turn his scythe into a spear and stab at you. He is able to disappear and reappear in a cloud of smoke closer to you. Note that you are not able just to run away from Death. In order to avoid this attack, you will have to jump or block. The second attack is more of a ranged attack, where Death will swing his scythe in a circle a few times, which sends shockwaves outwards. The first attack is a close attack where Death will slash at you a couple of times with the scythe. The best way to deal with Death is to avoid his attacks, so it's advisable to keep your finger on all the time. Continue along with the level and you'll come to your first boss fight. ![]()
